On 13-14 November, FDI Center’s Consultant and TGEinFDI community builder, Laura Figón will attend the Youth Trade Summit on Gender in Geneva. The summit is organized by the WTO and the WTO Gender Research Hub in partnership with Spain. This event aims to foster collaboration and networking among different generations of trade and gender stakeholders from government ministries and institutions, international agencies, universities and research institutes. This event precedes the second edition of the WTO’s World Trade Congress on Gender, which was held for the first time in December 2022.
Supported by her former university and FDI Center, Laura was selected as one of 59 young researchers and professionals to attend the conference and will be in the company of nominees from around the world. The topics to be covered during the conference will include gender-based research data, a gender-based perspective on e-commerce, gender aspects of trade finance, as well as linkages among gender, non-tariff measures and trade in services. Nominees will also be able to propose recommendations on trade and gender work, amongst other policy and research activities. Registration is now open to the public for both in person and virtual attendance on the WTO’s website.
Laura joined FDI Center with a background in international and developmental economics, including impact and gender lens investing. Within her role at FDI Center, she is working on building our Towards Gender Equality in FDI initiative (TGEinFDI), including our events and community.
