FDI Center featured in Forbes article on global FDI outlook for 2025

FDI Center’s managing director, Andreas Dressler shared his insights in a Forbes article by Courtney Fingar, titled “Uncertainty Lingers Over Global FDI Outlook for 2025”, published on January 31, 2025.

The article examines FDI figures and trends from 2024 and offers predictions for 2025. It forecasts that improved financing conditions and a resurgence in M&A activity will drive moderate FDI growth this year. Additionally, it explores how global supply chain restructuring, along with economic, geopolitical, and policy dynamics, will shape the trajectory of FDI in 2025.

Andreas highlighted the ASEAN region as a key beneficiary of global supply chain shifts, noting that the region “will continue to attract more FDI based on market growth, regional integration, and cost advantages.”

Andreas was also asked to share his 2025 predictions for FDI. He stated that investor sentiment on investing in the US will be divided, with some companies investing to circumvent tariffs and meet domestic content requirements, while others will stay away to avoid uncertainty.

Andreas also predicts that China’s share of outbound FDI will increase, particularly into developing countries seeking to avoid the scrutiny and conditions attached with attracting Western investors.
