Interview with Laura Suarez on global network and diaspora engagement on October 1 

On October 1 at 14:00 (CEST/UTC+2), we will be joined by Laura Suarez, Global Networks Manager at Scottish Development International, Scotland’s trade and inward investment agency that helps businesses from around the world do business in or with Scotland. 

The topic of this interview will be on how to utilize global networks and the diaspora to support the strategy, including FDI and talent attraction goals.   

Managing director, Andreas Dressler will be asking Laura questions related to engaging global networks including the Scottish diaspora, how these engaged networks can advocate for and support talent attraction, aspects of Scottish Enterprise’s strategy as well as gender equality within her organization.

Laura Suarez has over 20 years’ experience of working with international audiences across the private and public sectors in strategic engagement roles. For the last 16 years, she has worked for Scottish Development International (SDI) – the international arm of the Scottish Government and its enterprise agencies. 

Currently, Laura is an international senior manager for Global Networks. She is responsible for maximising the contribution that GlobalScots – influential senior business leaders located throughout the world – make to delivering transformational change for Scotland through economic growth, and for supporting the TalentScotland team to develop and deliver talent attraction and retention strategies in areas of importance to Scotland’s economy. 

This interview is the tenth interview of a monthly repeating interview series as part of the Towards Gender Equality in FDI initiative. Every month, women guest speakers will be invited to speak about a particular aspect of foreign direct investment and investment promotion. These very practical conversations will highlight best practices and explore the intersection of FDI and gender equality.
