FDI Center participates in FIPA – Tunisia’s 30th anniversary event

On June 20, FDI Center’s senior consultant Nada Snoussi participated in a panel discussion as part of FIPA – Tunisia’s 30th anniversary event in Tunis.

The event marked three key milestones: 30 years of the Tunisian investment promotion agency’s existence (IPA), the 30th anniversary of the Tunisia–EU Free Trade Agreement, and three decades of a national strategy dedicated to promoting FDI.

Nada spoke on the panel discussion “The Role of IPAs in the Age of AI” alongside representatives from UNCTAD, Invest Estonia, fDi Intelligence, WAIPA, Oxford Insights and Bloom Consulting.

The panel explored the evolving role of IPAs in the context of AI, focusing on how AI is reshaping efforts to attract and retain investment and employment within local economies. Panellists offered insights into the impact of digitalization on investment trends, the use of AI by governments—along with its limitations—and the broader implications of AI for the future of work, including potential job displacement.

Nada spoke on the importance of strategic and well-researched investor targeting in light of increasing global competition for FDI. She highlighted how AI can be embedded as a cost-effective solution to enhance targeting efforts, and discussed specific AI techniques that can support this approach. Nada also addressed the limitations of AI and how to ensure these tools are used properly in the context of investment promotion.

We thank FIPA – Tunisia for the invitation and congratulate them on their anniversary.
