FDI Center’s managing director, Andreas Dressler, was one of the panelists in a virtual boardroom event on the future of foreign direct investment in the Middle East. Organized by Bureau van Dijk (a Moody’s Analytics Company), the event featured a discussion about how countries in the Middle East can position themselves as locations for foreign direct investment as well as the opportunities that exist for attracting FDI to the region. Other panelists included senior executives of corporate investors from the medical device, healthcare, and hospitality sectors. Andreas Dressler focused on the competition between investment promotion agencies in the region and the type of support they can provide to attract more investment. The event was attended by senior representatives of investment promotion agencies and government organizations from throughout the Middle East.
FDI Center and ESCAP have launched the Pledge Amongst IPAs to Advance Gender Equity in Foreign Direct Investment. The pledge aims to increase the number of FDI-mandated organizations that incorporate gender equality into their work and apply a gender lens across their operations and services.
