FDI Center’s managing director, Andreas Dressler, led a workshop on the use of digital technologies by investment promotion agencies. The virtual workshop, organized by the EU-OECD Programme on Investment in the Mediterranean, in collaboration with the OECD IPA Network, was designed to provide investment promotion practitioners with practical advice on how digital technology is being applied in investment attraction, promotion, facilitation and aftercare.
The workshop included a series of presentations by investment promotion agencies from Dubai, Jordan, Egypt, Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, Estonia and the UK, followed by a discussion among participants on how to apply digital technologies in areas such as online investor service portals, digital location benchmarking, AI-based chatbots and other tools.
The discussion covered a range of topics, including the organizational changes and skills required for digital technology to be applied successfully by investment promotion agencies. Andreas Dressler moderated the discussion and provided examples from FDI Center’s work supporting both investment promotion agencies and corporate investors.
