FDI Center, in collaboration with the World Association of Investment Promotion Agencies (WAIPA), hosted a panel discussion on “The future of investment promotion: the road ahead for investment promotion agencies”. The panelists were Pilar Madrigal, Director Investment Advisory, Costa Rican Investment Promotion Agency (CINDE), Nicola Watkinson, General Manager, The Americas, Australian Trade and Investment Commission (Austrade), Kenny McDonald, CEcD, President & CEO, One Columbus and Boštjan Skalar, CEO of WAIPA. The discussion provided timely and practical advice on how investment promotion agencies and economic development agencies can confront current challenges and position themselves for attracting FDI in the future. FDI Center and ESCAP have launched the Pledge Amongst IPAs to Advance Gender Equity in Foreign Direct Investment. The pledge aims to increase the number of FDI-mandated organizations that incorporate gender equality into their work and apply a gender lens across their operations and services.
