FDI Center’s managing director, Andreas Dressler, participated in the ASEAN Investment Forum in Vientiane, Laos, on October 7, 2024. Organized by ASEAN and the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP), the Forum aims to create awareness of ASEAN as an attractive investment destination and increase investments by forming links with potential investors and other economies.
The highlight of this year’s forum was the launch of the ASEAN Regional Investment Action Plan 2025-2030, which provides a roadmap for promoting and attracting investment to ASEAN collectively as a region. The Action Plan was developed by FDI Center on behalf of ESCAP and the ASEAN Coordinating Committee on Investment and has been endorsed by individual ASEAN member states.
As part of the Investment Forum, Andreas Dressler moderated a panel discussion on the topic of “Green Economy Investments in ASEAN”. Panelists included senior representatives of Bayer, Thailand Board of Investment and the Malaysian Investment Development Authority, who discussed opportunities for increasing the amount of domestic and foreign investment in ASEAN in renewable energy, carbon capture and storage, electric mobility, biofuels, new materials and other sectors of the green economy.
